Robinson Cano had 4 hits and 6 RBI as the indomitable New York (AL) Yankees
destroyed the lifeless Kansas City Royals by a score of 23 to 8 at Kauffman
Stadium.

Cano was really in 'the zone'. He delivered a base-hit plating two runs in
the 1st inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 2nd inning, ripped a single
which brought home a run in the 3rd inning and slapped a one-base hit in the
8th inning. New York (AL) bats were very productive in the 1st inning when
they had 5 runs on 4 hits and the 5th inning which saw them score 9 runs on 6
hits. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 6 different innings was
still not enough for Kansas City to come away with the victory.

Mike Mussina(12-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 7 runs. Jorge De La Rosa(2-3) was given the loss. He surrendered 3
hits and 2 walks in 2/3 of an inning.

New York (AL) continued their winnings ways improving their record to a
division leading 88-49. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. Buddy Bell
was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games'
he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'

hits for the afternoon.

The win went to Roberto Novoa(4-5) who allowed 1 run in 1 inning. The losing

2006 AL Standings

 September 1, 2006

The month of August is in the books. The 2006 MLB season is into the stretch run. The New York Yankees lead the AL East by a large margin and have the best overall record in the AL. My Detroit Tigers had a horrible month in August going a league worst 9-20. The Tigers gave up 1st place in the AL Central to the Chicago White Sox and find themselves in 3rd place.
The LA Angels are in 1st in the AL West but the Seattle Mariners and Oakland A's aren't too far behind them. The Minnesota Twins currently hold the Wild Card Spot with my Tigers just 1 GB.

2006 NL Standings

 September 1, 2006

We're in the stretch run in the 2006 MLB season. The 1st place team in the NL West, the San Diego Padres, have the best record in the NL. The New York Mets lead the NL East and the Houston Astros lead the NL Central. All 3 teams have a pretty firm hold on their positions and only a complete collapse would find the final Standings different from what they are now. The LA Dodgers have a good grip on the Wild Card spot.

2006 AL Game: Bsn. @ Oak.

 July 28, 2006

The Oakland A's may be the biggest disappointment in the AL this season, but they didn't disappoint the hometown fans tonight. The A's pounded the Red Sox 25-3, the most runs scored in a game by any team in the AL this year. Frank Thomas blasted 2 homeruns good for 6 RBI and Marco Scutaro drove in 7 runs for Oakland. After scoring 9 runs in the first 2 innings, the A's put up a 10 spot in the 3rd.

WEB GEMS- Bot 5th: Carlos Pena robbed Bobby Kielty of a base hit.

Frank Thomas smacked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Oakland A's crushed the
Boston Red Sox 25 to 3.

Thomas enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He ripped a single which plated a
run in the 1st inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 3rd inning,
slapped a one-base hit plating a run in the 3rd inning, stroked a single in
the 5th inning and hit a bases-empty home run in the 8th inning. Oakland
bats were hot in the 1st inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 4 hits and the
3rd inning which saw them score 10 runs on 9 hits. Offensively, Oakland was
a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.

The win went to Esteban Loaiza(5-12) who allowed 2 runs in 7 innings. Kason
Gabbard(1-1) was the losing pitcher. Oakland continued their winnings ways
improving their record to 61-70. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. With
the loss, Boston has a record of 4-6 lately, 61-70 overall.

Johan Santana carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Minnesota Twins
defeated the Chicago (AL) White Sox by a score of 3 to 1 at US Cellular
Field.

Santana(20-6) looked very much in control throughout the night. He was stingy
on the mound, allowing just 1 hit and 3 walks in 7 innings. The left-handed
Santana lost his chance for a no-hitter when Pablo Ozuna singled with nobody
out in the 6th inning. Minnesota managed 9 hits in their victory.

Joe Nathan recorded his 37th save. The losing pitcher was Jose
Contreras(11-8). Minnesota now has a record of 74-54. With the loss,
Chicago (AL) has a record of 7-3 lately, 77-52 overall.
