TEAM RISP- Yankees: 10 for 20 Royals: 7 for 16

Robinson Cano had 4 hits and 6 RBI as the indomitable New York (AL) Yankees
destroyed the lifeless Kansas City Royals by a score of 23 to 8 at Kauffman
Stadium.

Cano was really in 'the zone'. He delivered a base-hit plating two runs in
the 1st inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 2nd inning, ripped a single
which brought home a run in the 3rd inning and slapped a one-base hit in the
8th inning. New York (AL) bats were very productive in the 1st inning when
they had 5 runs on 4 hits and the 5th inning which saw them score 9 runs on 6
hits. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 6 different innings was
still not enough for Kansas City to come away with the victory.

Mike Mussina(12-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 7 runs. Jorge De La Rosa(2-3) was given the loss. He surrendered 3
hits and 2 walks in 2/3 of an inning.

New York (AL) continued their winnings ways improving their record to a
division leading 88-49. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. Buddy Bell
was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games'
he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
