2006 World Series Game #1: LA @ Min.

 October 22, 2006

Johan Santana was on top of his game, pitching 8 1/3 innings, striking out 10 and allowing 1 run as the Minnesota Twins took Game 1 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-1. The Twins scored first in the 2nd inning off LA starter Derek Lowe. After LA tied it up 1-1 in the top of the 4th, Minnesota struck for 4 runs. The big blow was a 3-run homer from Luis Castillo. 2 LA errors in the inning led to all the scoring and chased Lowe from the mound. Another error by the Dodgers led to a run for the Twins in the 7th. A single run in the 8th finished the scoring for Minnesota, but Santana didn't need any of those runs as he cruised into the 9th.
