2006 MLB Playoffs, NLCS Game #7: LA @ Hou.

  The Los Angeles Dodgers are headed to the World Series! The Dodgers won Game 7 of the NLCS tonight by defeating the Houston Astros 6-2. Brad Penny pitched a fine game for LA going 6 2/3 innings, striking out 10 and allowing 1 run. He got the Win and Takashi Saito, the 4th reliever used by LA, got the Save. Roy Oswalt took the Loss for Houston.
  Both teams scored a run in the 1st inning. Wilson Betemit homered for LA in the 2nd and the Dodgers added single runs in the 4th and 6th for a 4-2 lead. Houston scored a run in the bottom of the 8th to make it 4-2 but LA got that run back and more by adding 2 in the top of the 9th. Saito came on to pitch the bottom of the 9th and set the side down in order. 
  The Los Angeles Dodgers win the NL Pennant and will play the Minnesota Twins in the 2006 World Series. Both teams were Wild Card winners in their respective leagues.

Rafael Furcal had 4 hits and Brad Penny struck out 10 batters as the Los
Angeles(NL) Dodgers defeated the Houston Astros by the score of 6 to 2 at
Minute Maid Field.
 
Penny(1-1) earned his pay with a solid performance for Los Angeles(NL).  He
was reached for 5 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA to
2.41.  Houston was out-hit by Los Angeles(NL), 13 hits to 7.  
 
Roy Oswalt(2-2) was given the loss.  He was unable to control the Los
Angeles(NL) offense and allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
 
Penny, when asked about his 10 strikeout performance noted, 'The important
thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do our team?
But, on the other hand, since we won it feels great!'
