 October 4, 2006

All 8 teams in the postseason played in the 4 games today. First up was my Detroit Tigers hosting the Los Angeles Angels. In a very exciting game the Angels defeated the Tigers 7-6 in 11 innings. Detroit jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning with 2 runs scoring on Magglio Ordonez' homerun. LA came back in the top of the 2nd with 4 runs to take the lead. After the Angels scored another run in the top of the 5th, the Tigers scored 3 in the bottom of the inning for a 6-5 lead. In the top of the 6th LA's Rob Quinlan homered to tie things up at 6 apiece. Despite all the scoring, both starting pitchers stayed in the game into the 7th. The game remained scoreless until the 11th inning when LA scored in the top of the inning on a single and a Howie Kendrick double off reliever Fernando Rodney. Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect 11th for the Save in the Angels 7-6 victory. Hector Carrasco got the Win and was outstanding in relief, pitching 3 1/3 scoreless innings while striking out 7.
