2006 AL Game Stories

   My Detroit Tigers continue their losing ways, dropping a 6-3 decision to the Texas Rangers while the Chicago White Sox were pounding the Minnesota Twins 14-1. As a result, Chicago has moved past Detroit into 1st place in the AL Central. The Tigers had been in 1st since June 11th, but have gone 5-13 so far in August. Chicago now leads Detroit by .5 game and Minnesota by 3.

Left fielder Scott Podsednik had 4 hits and 4 RBI at Metrodome as the Chicago
(AL) White Sox, running on all cylinders, ripped the Minnesota Twins by a
large 14 to 1 margin.
 
Podsednik enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He doubled in the 1st inning,
doubled which scored a run in the 3rd inning, ripped a base-knock plating a
run in the 6th inning and laced a one-base hit bringing home two baserunners
in the 9th inning.  Chicago (AL) simply wore out the Minnesota pitching
staff, scoring in 6 different innings.  
 
The victory went to Jon Garland(8-10) who went 8 innings, allowing 1 run. Brad
Radke(11-9) was charged with the loss.  He gave up 9 runs in 5 and 1/3
innings of work.  
 
This win by Chicago (AL) continues their recent hot streak.  In their last ten
games, they have a record of 8-2.  For the season, they are 73-49.  Minnesota
has a record of 70-52 after the loss.

Designated hitter Carlos Lee slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Texas
Rangers bested the Detroit Tigers 6 to 3 at Comerica Park.
 
Lee enjoyed a fine evening at the plate.  He lined a single bringing in a run
in the 1st inning, slapped a base-hit bringing in a run in the 2nd inning and
hit a bases-empty home run in the 5th inning.  Texas out-hit Detroit for the
game, 9 hits to 5.  
 
The victory went to Rob Tejeda(3-1) who went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Tejeda got relief help from Akinori Otsuka who gained credit for his
27th save.  Nate Robertson(9-6) was charged with the loss.
