2006 NL Standings: Houston Clinches!

  The Houston Astros clinched the NL Central title tonight with their 6-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. The Astros have now won 7 in a row and are the 2nd team in the NL to clinch their division.

The seemingly unstoppable Houston Astros plated 4 runs in the 7th inning and
bested the Cincinnati Reds by a 6 to 2 score at Minute Maid Field.
 
Chad Qualls(7-4) won the game with a masterful relief performance.  He gave up
just 1 hit and no walks in 2 innings.  Cincinnati was out-hit by Houston, 10
hits to 4.  
 
Todd Coffey(6-6) suffered the loss in relief.  The winning ways continue for
Houston.  They now have a record of 8-2 in recent days.  With the loss, 

Cincinnati has a record of 5-5 lately, 72-79 overall.
