In a big game in the race for the AL Central Championship my Detroit Tigers dropped a 2-1 decision to the Chicago White Sox tonight. The 1st of 3 games in the series, Detroit took an early lead in the 2nd inning on a Carlos Guillen homerun, but that would be all the runs the Tigers would score. Chicago came right back in the bottom of the 2nd with an unearned run to tie it up at 1-1. The White Sox added a run in the bottom of the 4th for a 2-1 lead and would hold on the rest of the game for the 2-1 victory.
Mark Buehrle and Kenny Rogers both pitched well with Buehrle getting the Win and Rogers taking the tough Loss. Bobby Jenks came on in the 8th inning to get Chicago out of a jam then pitched a perfect 9th for his 40th Save of the season.
The Win moved Chicago within a .5 game of the 1st place Minnesota Twins and Detroit dropped back to 2.5 GB.
